'A CHAKRADANCE™ Experience'

CHAKRADANCE™ CD Review, Nova Magazine

In CHAKRADANCE™ , matching the music to the chakras is absolutely essential and it took Natalie seven years to track down the right music. This year, she teamed up with DJ Leigh Wood, the founder/producer of One World Music, who was in the process of seeing up his Daily Tonic label. Together, they sourced the tracks fro this first ever CHAKRADANCE™ album.

Every human being has seven major chakras and many hundreds of minor ones, all spinning like invisible wheels and vibrating to specific frequencies. Guided by music resonating to each of the seven major chakras in turn, participants are taken on a dynamic dance journey through their own energy centres.

The CD’s first track introduces pounding primal rhythms to awaken the base chakra.

Next follows music for the second or sacral chakra, fluid and feminine, combining tabla rhythms with subtle sounds of the sitar.

The third track is, by contrast, fiery and dynamic, tuned to resonate with the solar plexus energy centre.

Ethereal flutes and gently pulsating rhythms encourage expression of the heart or fourth major chakra. This is a particularly pretty track mixed with exotic female vocals

The progression then continues to the fifth or throat chakra, stimulated by cicada-like sounds and music promoting expressiveness and clarity of communication via movement.

The third eye chakra becomes the focus as the floating, drifting quality of the music in the sixth track, which evokes feelings of inspiration, clarity and intuition.

The seventh or crown chakra is then called forth by serenely regal sounds, which motivate the body towards gentle meditative movements.

The CD’s final track is a haunting mix of Andean flutes, sitar and vocal chanting and nicely completes the compilation.

No dance experience or prior knowledge of chakras is necessary as in CHAKRADANCE™ the movement is spontaneous. There is no right or style, no set steps or routines to follow. The invitation is to surrender to the energy of the music and dance “from the inside out”. Every track of CHAKRADANCE™ inspires one to dance and, while the CD’s release is certain to attract increased numbers to the classes, the music is uplifting, meditative and stands beautifully by itself.
